Questo Corso permette allo studente di comprendere i concetti base dell'Odontoiatria.
Nello specifico, lo studente potrà:
- conoscere l'anatomia e la fisiologia dei denti e dei tessuti e delle strutture circostanti
- comprendere l'eziologia delle carie dentali e delle malattie parodontali
- effettuare la diagnosi di carie dentali e malattie parodontali
- comprendere l'eziologia e fare la diagnosi delle malocclusioni dento-scheletriche
- conoscere e diagnosticare i principali disturbi temporomandibolari

Negli anni precedenti lo studente deve aver acquisito una buona metodologia di studio e un'adeguata capacità di autovalutazione.

Il Corso è organizzato con lezioni frontali supportate da diapositive in lingua inglese e abbinate ad una formazione pratica sotto tutoraggio.

Il Corso prevede un esame finale orale tenuto dai Professori del Corso Integrato dei DISTURBI DEGLI ORGANI SENSORIALI.
La valutazione delle competenze degli studenti si basa su un test orale relativo a tutti gli aspetti delle malattie orali. Lo studente dovrebbe essere in grado di discutere sull'argomento e di collegare e analizzare i diversi argomenti. Inoltre, lo studente deve avere una conoscenza dei concetti generali di istologia, microbiologia e fisiopatologia per collegarli alle malattie orali.
Per testare l'acquisizione di questa capacità, allo studente potrebbe essere chiesto di risolvere un semplice problema clinico, ad esempio riconoscere carie, malattie parodontali o malocclusioni sulla base di immagini cliniche.
Il voto finale è espresso in 30/30 dove 18 rappresenta il minimo e 30 il massimo ed è stabilito durante l'esame orale dalla Commissione.

This Course allows the student to understand the basic concepts of Dentistry.
Specifically, the student will be able to:
- know the anatomy and the physiology of the teeth and surrounding tissues and structures
- understand the etiology of tooth decays, periodontal diseases
- make the diagnosis of tooth decays and periodontal diseases
- understand the etiology and make the diagnosis of dento-skeletal malocclusions
- know and make the diagnosis of the main temporomandibular disorders

In previous years the student must have acquired a good study methodology and an adequate self-assessment capacity.

The Course is organized with frontal classes supported by slides in English language and combined with practical training under tutoring.

The Course has an oral final examination held by the Professors of the Integrated Course of SENSORY ORGAN DISORDERS.

Evaluation of student proficiency is based on an oral test related to all the aspects of the Oral Diseases. The student should be able to discuss on the topic and to connect and analyze the different subjects. Moreover, the student must have a knowledge of the general concepts of histology, microbiology and physiopathology to connect them with the oral diseases.
In order to test the acquisition of this ability, the student may be asked to solve simple clinical oriented problem, e.g. recognize tooth decays, periodontal diseases or malocclusions based on clinical images.
The final grade is expressed in 30/30 were 18 represents the minimum and 30 the maximum and it is established during the oral exam by the Commission.
