Al III anno di corso gli studenti seguiranno dei tirocini teorico-pratici con l’obiettivo di acquisire le basi di metodologia clinica, chirurgica e di laboratorio che rappresentano le premesse per lo sviluppo della successiva acquisizione delle abilità cliniche nelle discipline previste nello stesso anno di programma formativo.
Il percorso avverrà sotto la guida di tutor che attesteranno su apposito report lo svolgimento delle attività previste. La verifica del raggiungimento degli obiettivi formativi sarà ottenuta valutando sia la conoscenza degli argomenti trattati sia la capacità clinica raggiunta nel corso dell’attività formativa.

Lo studente acquisisce conoscenze di base sull’approccio al paziente chirurgico e sulle principali procedure cliniche, chirurgiche e laboratoristiche inambito di chirurgia generale.

Lo studente è in grado di applicare le conoscenze acquisite per eseguire un esame obiettivo del paziente chirurgico e per orientarsi nelle principali procedure diagnostico-terapeutiche di base.

Corso di General Surgery

Le attività formative professionalizzanti sono svolte mediante attività clinica supervisionata in reparto e/o ambulatorio. L’apprendimento è basato su approccio esperienziale (learning by doing) e progressiva acquisizione di autonomia sotto supervisione tutoriale. Le principali metodologie didattiche includono: attività clinica guidata in reparto e in ambulatorio, discussione di casi clinici (case-based learning), affiancamento a personale medico e sanitario durante le attività diagnostiche, terapeutiche e procedurali, briefing e debriefing con il tutor, finalizzati alla riflessione critica sull’esperienza clinica. Le competenze acquisite sono documentate e validate tramite booklet e valutazione diretta da parte del tutor. La frequenza è obbligatoria per poter accedere alla prova finale di valutazione

La valutazione delle attività formative professionalizzanti, ai fini del conseguimento dell’idoneità, tiene conto della progressiva acquisizione delle competenze cliniche di base, con particolare riferimento a: approccio al paziente e esecuzione delle attività previste; corretta applicazione delle procedure cliniche apprese sotto supervisione; adeguatezza del comportamento professionale, inclusi rispetto del paziente, collaborazione in équipe e osservanza delle norme etiche e deontologiche. L’idoneità è attribuita sulla base di un giudizio complessivo sul raggiungimento degli obiettivi formativi, coerente con il livello di formazione previsto dal corso di studio

L’esercitazione mirerà all’acquisizione dell’ approccio al paziente chirurgico mediante acquisizione delle abilità dell’esame obiettivo di torace ed addome, esame obiettivo di collo e tiroide, polsi vascolari, valutazione del dolore toracico di pertinenza chirurgica, valutazione paziente con addome acuto, ispezione e palpazione delle porte erniarie. Sarà inoltre mostrata la patologia vascolare acuta di frequente riscontro e verranno esposte le suture chirurgiche in fase operatoria.
Gli studenti verranno inoltre coinvolti nella discussione di casi clinici simulati. Le attività verranno svolte in reparto, ambulatorio e mediante l’osservazione di interventi chirurgici.

In the third year of the course students will follow theoretical and practical internships with the aim of acquiring the basics of clinical, surgical and laboratory methodology that represent the premises for the development of the subsequent acquisition of clinical skills in the disciplines planned in the same year of the program training.
The course will take place under the guidance of tutors who will confirm the performance of the planned activities on a specific report. The verification of the achievement of the training objectives will be obtained by evaluating both the knowledge of the topics covered and the clinical capacity achieved during the training activity.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
The student acquires basic knowledge of the approach to the surgical patient and of the main clinical, surgical, and laboratory procedures in general surgery.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
The student is able to apply acquired knowledge to perform a physical examination of the surgical patient and to understand basic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
MAKING JUDGEMENTS
The student develops the ability to integrate basic clinical data to formulate preliminary assessments of surgical patients.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
The student is able to appropriately communicate essential clinical information and interact with patients and the surgical team.
LEARNING SKILLS
The student develops experiential learning skills useful for consolidating basic clinical competencies in general surgery

General Surgery course

Professional training activities are carried out through supervised clinical activities in the ward and/or outpatient clinic. Learning is based on an experiential approach (learning by doing) and progressive acquisition of autonomy under tutorial supervision. The main teaching methodologies include: guided clinical activities in the ward and outpatient clinic, discussion of clinical cases (case-based learning), support for medical and healthcare personnel during diagnostic, therapeutic, and procedural activities, and briefings and debriefings with the tutor, aimed at critically reflecting on the clinical experience. The skills acquired are documented and validated through booklets and direct evaluation by the tutor. Attendance is compulsory in order to gain access to the final evaluation test

The evaluation of professional training activities, with a view to attaining eligibility, takes into account the progressive acquisition of basic clinical skills, with particular reference to: approach to the patient and execution of the planned activities; correct application of clinical procedures learned under supervision; adequacy of professional behaviour, including respect for the patient, collaboration in teams and observance of ethical and deontological norms. Eligibility is awarded on the basis of an overall judgment on the achievement of the training objectives, consistent with the level of training envisaged by the course of study

The exercise will aim at acquiring the approach to the surgical patient by acquiring the skills of the physical examination of the thorax and abdomen, objective examination of the neck and thyroid, vascular pulses, assessment of chest pain pertinent to surgery, patient evaluation with acute abdomen, inspection and palpation of hernia doors. In addition, acute vascular pathology will be shown frequently and surgical sutures will be exposed during surgery.
Students will also be involved in the discussion of simulated clinical cases. The activities will be carried out in the ward, clinic and through the observation of surgical operations.
